Still here and getting fitter

I haven't been blogging (just had a little break), but have been getting fitter this year.

Hubby and I joined a personal fitness studio called Vision Personal Training, and I love it!  Never thought I'd say that about exercise.  Besides the exercise increasing, I also have increased my intake of protein! Never eaten so much meat before.

It's been great. Brent and I factor exercise into our date night even...now that's saying something :)

Now I'm under 100kg and my next goal is to get under 90kg.

Just ate veggies for dinner and liked it!

Last night Brent decided it was time to use up some veggies sitting in the fridge. I normally use up everything before the next lot of veggies are delivered on Thursday of every week (by Farmers Direct). I still love the service...This week I failed to use up all my veggies and had about 8 zucchini, 8 carrots, a head of broccoli and an eggplant to use in one day.  The next delivery arrives today.

So last night Brent starts chopping, and then I join in chopping, and I end up doubling the amount he was going to cook. We didn't manage to use all the veggies up but have made a good sized dent in the veggie oversupply, and we ate the whole lot up.  It was so simple but so tasty - just stir fried veggies with garlic and oyster sauce.  But they were really yummy.  And so that's all I ate last night - not even rice or any meat. No-one complained.

Almost 0 points!

Time to stop eating my emotions

Hi there.  It's been ages since I last came here.  And I'm back again with my tail between my legs! I feel  like I've been saying that a lot lately.

So it's time to stop eating my emotions.  Not sure if it's hormonal, or just feeling flat...whatever the reason, I don't need to eat to feel better cos in the end I feel worse!

I've weighed in to face the music and I'm up to 110.4kg, so that's enough! Back to tracking and back to taking control of what goes into my mouth!

Okay Okay...stop being so dramatic!

I'm alive, but have been eating my emotions for the last couple of weeks.  I haven't got time to tell you everything right now cos I've got to get to work. But I'll come back and add more after school...

Ate it - tracked it! Feel better!

I know that the temptation with a blow-out day is to make every day after it a blow-out day - then if I don't get my head back in the game, I end up with a blow-out week.

This morning I tracked yesterday's food...which was all good, really good, until I went to visit my friend.  Every Tuesday when my kids are at piano lessons I visit my friend and my god-daughter, and we have pre-dinner treats.  It's a bit late for afternoon tea, so it's a pre-dinner cakes and rubbish.  I don't want to be anti-social so I eat whatever is there!

So, I tracked it this morning, and feel better! AND, I still have plenty of weeklies left...

New name for Tready needed...

I've got to keep my Paris goal in sight, so I'm thinking of renaming my treadmill to get me motivated to exercise.  Its name at the moment is Tready, but I was thinking of renaming it 'Paris', or maybe 'Francois', but that's kinda boring.  Has anyone got any other ideas?

I DID WI this morning after all, and despite my worst fears, I lost 100gms! Yay, who would rejoice with a 100gm loss? ME, cos I thought it was going to be a gain.

But maybe I'll do another WI tomorrow, and instead of pigging out on WI day, I'll stick with the program today, and WI tomorrow (again).

My aim for today - not to use my weeklies!

Better eat breakfast now - I have heaps of eggs in the fridge, so I think I'll have a couple of eggs on toast!
See you all later, have a great day :D

Harvest time in the garden

I really don't have a green thumb - at all. But have managed to grow a few veggies over autumn and winter. So here's the proof. Can't bring myself to eat them :(

Just can't have it in the house!

What a weekend I've had.  It's been lots of fun but very social, which means lots of food! It shouldn't necessarily have to mean 'lots of food' but for some reason in my world social = lots of food. A bit of an eye opener really...well, not really, but it's something I need to change in my perception.  I can be social without eating too much.

We had a dear friend's baby shower at our house, and the afternoon tea was astounding, and there was a lot left over which we did manage to give away, but not enough was given away! So then there was Thai takeaway after the baby shower, and white bread sandwiches yesterday, and leftover Thai takeaway for dinner, followed by leftover cakes from Saturday... sigh.  I feel like I sigh a lot lately.  So it's a fruit and veggie day again today, another miracle needed!

Weigh in tomorrow will reveal all. Might have to visit Tready which I should be doing anyway... he feels lonely.

I'm cooking little cherry tomatoes for breakfast, and then will have a grapefruit and a cuppa.

Olympic Fever

I get a bit obsessive at times, and of course, I'm really into the olympic games at the moment.  The disadvantage of living in the Southern Hemisphere is that it's on at night and carries on into the wee hours of the morning.  I stay up a lot longer than I should, and try to keep awake to watch for any sign of Australia or NZ winning a medal.

The problem with staying up till 2 or 3am is obviously sleep deprivation, which makes Heather a bit dippy and grumpy all rolled into one. The other problem is that I tend to snack while watching the TV...I ate a mini magnum one night after Brent went to bed. I also tend to fall asleep on the couch in the afternoons to make up for lost sleep. Maybe if I got onto the treadmill while watching all these amazing athletes competing?

Weigh In day relief!

Yep, I'm relieved.  I weighed in today and lost 300gms!  Woohoo! I'm relieved cos it could have easily been a gain after the huge meat weekend amongst other hi-cal food. That's a 900gm difference from Monday morning (yesterday) to this morning which is better than the gain I was expecting.

My fruit, veggie and prawn day yesterday must have counteracted the overeating from the weekend, so that's sooooo gooood! Gonna be good today!

A carnivorous weekend!

It was a huge meat eating weekend for me this weekend! It started with an unexpected dinner out on Friday night at Hurricanes (meat-eaters heaven), and then we had yum cha (at home), and then a BBQ yesterday after church. Unfortunately, I didn't make good choices all weekend and ate like a dinosaur, well a t-rex more than a brontosaurus.

So with a weigh-in tomorrow, it's not looking good at all.  I've got one day up my sleeve to try and even things out a bit. But I'm telling myself it's just a glitch for the month, and a new month and new week starts tomorrow.  I'll go low carb and high veggie for a day and see what happens tomorrow!

Slow cooker goodness!

Yesterday morning I received my weekly delivery of milk and meat from Farmers Direct. I'm really enjoying this, and then on Thursday my fruit and veggies arrive. I don't get too much, but what I've ordered seems to be almost right, so that's good.

To use up some stuff in the fridge, I thought I'd make a slow cooker hotpot for dinner.  So in went some large chunks of chicken thigh fillet, chunky diced carrots, onions, potatoes, parsnips, swedes, and a couple of cloves of garlic. Then about 4 litres of chicken stock.  Sound a bit like soup? It should cos it was actually a veggie soup pack from Woolies. I had basically made chicken soup but it was very very chunky and not soup-like at all.

After it had cooked for 8 hours, it smelled great but looked strange, like overly chunky chicken and veggie soup. So I threw in half a packet of risoni and waited...to my amazement, it worked and all of a sudden we had an edible meal! And healthy too! No added oil and easy to make. Still looks a bit odd, but tasted good :)

Weigh in today!

It was my home weigh in today! And I'm really glad to say I lost 1.2kg...but I certainly didn't deserve it as I didn't track and I ate rubbish every day.  But, it just goes to show how bad I was in NZ, and it's no surprise that I'd gained 3.4kg over a couple of weeks while I on holiday there!

So it's new week and my tracker is ready and waiting for me to fill it up with healthy food items, and the occasional treat ;P

This week's goal:

  • daily tracking
  • daily exercise (not being specific here  :))
Only 2.2kg to go before I get back to my pre-NZ weight, and then onwards and downwards.

I think I can do better!

So much for a healthy week back from holidays! I started tracking but ran out of points by day 2 so sort of gave up.  :(

I still have 3 days to go before I weigh in so it's never too late. And the scales show that I am losing despite being so bad this week...this means I was super-duper bad in NZ!

On a different note, I got my first delivery this week from Farmers Direct which deliver milk, bread and meat to me one morning a week, and fruit and veggies on another. It's very exciting to have it delivered to me, and it means I don't need to go shopping as often, and healthy food is always going to be there. The good thing is that I can pick and choose what I order online. Yay! I probably need to assess the quantities I've ordered after a month or so. I suspect I may have ordered too much fruit and veg, or maybe I just to eat more of them!

The Holiday's Over and the Scales Don't Lie!

Yep, that's right folks.  The holiday is officially over and I weighed in this morning to find a lovely 3.4kg since i last weighed-in 3 weeks ago! So let me get an "aaaarrrgghhhh" out of my system, and let's get back on track! It never fails to amaze me how quickly I can gain especially whilst in NZ, but then there has been an extraordinary amount of eating!

Paris is still calling, and hubby is talking about it more, so I've got to keep up my end of the bargain and get to 85kg...which is now 25kg away!

Back in Sydney and back to Paris

I jumped onto the scales after a two week holiday from school and work, and also a two week holiday from tracking and sensible eating. The scales told me what I already knew - a huge gain of about 3kg! That's what happens when you eat out almost every day. And when you try to consume all the winter favourites that might not be consumed for several years.

So back to reality tomorrow!

Oh well, I'm on holiday!

Yep, I'm on holiday, and don't I know it! :-/

I'm eating everything I haven't eaten for ages such as, NZ yams, lolly cake, Bluff oysters, kumara and going out to eat way more than normal. Oh well, I'll get back to the program in a few days and have a reality check when I return to Sydney. Then it's onwards to Paris.

I took it easy on the slopes as I really didn't want to come home walking with crutches. So I skied one day and went as support person on another day. I had a lovely view of the mountain whilst sipping on milled wine and demolishing my Jeffrey Deaver novel and blueberry muffin.

Ski Fun

I wasn't sure if I was going to ski or not, but the weather was lovely and I didn't want to miss out! But I'm not particularly ski-fit and I am just going to do a few runs and then have a coffee and then have a read of my new book in the sun and then maybe think about doing another run. Here's my first coffee break.

Off to find some snow in New Zealand

We're here in NZ now and are on our way to Central Otago to go skiing. I'm definitely eating more points than I should be but maybe I'll take a little holiday from tracking and just try to be as sensible as I can. So far, not so good :( But, it's the overall journey that counts, and after all, Paris is calling and I can't let Paris down.

Did I make my goal this month?

Well, what do you reckon?

No miracles this month, or in the last 24 hours at least.
It's the last day of June, and I was aiming for 106kg, but weighed 106.3kg this morning.  So I was really close but not quite there, but it was actually great having something to aim for...

I'm setting myself a new challenge to go under 106kg by Monday when we are going to NZ - 400gm is 3 days is definitely do-able :)
